Sprint's $57M Age Bias Settlement Gets Green Light

Law360, New York (September 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Kansas federal judge signed off Tuesday on a $57 million deal Sprint Nextel Corp. drew up back in May to settle a collective action filed in 2003 by laid-off workers claiming they were discriminated against on the basis of their old age.

A hearing on the matter was held Monday before Judge John Lungstrom, who declared Tuesday that the deal had been “fairly and honestly negotiated and is fair, adequate, and reasonable.”
