New Century Examiner Gets More Time For Probe

Law360, New York (September 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With officials still trying to piece together what went wrong at New Century Financial Corp., a bankruptcy judge has reportedly granted the court-appointed examiner additional time to investigate the causes of the subprime mortgage giant's implosion.

On Tuesday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin Carey signed off on the extension request filed just days ago by Michael J. Missal, giving the examiner leave to continue probing New Century's books for a while longer, according to Dow Jones.
