Hyundai E&C Inks $983M Qatar Construction Contract

Law360, New York (June 1, 2012, 4:43 PM EDT) -- South Korean construction giant Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. has signed a $983 million contract with Qatar's Public Works Authority to reconstruct an expressway in the country, Hyundai E&C said in a regulatory filing Friday.

The Seoul-based builder said that it that had been awarded the contract to reconstruct and upgrade a 3.6-mile stretch of the Qatar Lusail Expressway. The refurbishing is part of the country's push to dramatically improve infrastructure ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
