Nokia, RIM, STMicro Face ITC Probe Over Caltech Sensor IP

Law360, New York (June 4, 2012, 1:23 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Friday voted to investigate claims brought by the California Institute of Technology that Nokia Corp., Research In Motion Ltd. and STMicroelectronics Inc. manufactured products that allegedly infringed the school's patents on image sensing technology.

Caltech asked the ITC in its May 1 complaint to launch an investigation into claims that semiconductor manufacturer STMicro made smartphone camera components that infringe the school's patented technology, then sold the parts to Nokia and RIM for use in Blackberry devices and other mobile phones....
