Zimmer To Pay $17M To Settle BTG Patent Suit

Law360 (May 20, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Medical device maker Zimmer Holdings, Inc. will pay $17.4 million to settle patent litigation brought by U.K. IP and technology commercialization company BTG plc over orthopedic implants.

The settlement ends patent infringement actions in the USA and Germany relating to the two-part hip cup patents as well as cases filed by Zimmer against BTG in Germany and in State Court in Indiana, BTG said.

As a result of the settlement, Zimmer will make an immediate payment resulting in gross revenues to BTG of $17.4 million. Zimmer...
