Iowa High Court Backs Wind Project Of Up To 1,001 MW

Law360, New York (June 8, 2012, 5:45 PM EDT) -- The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday approved MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co.'s wind energy expansion that will yield up to 1,001 megawatts, saying the state's utility regulator was right to give MidAmerican leeway to hike customers' rates to cover project costs.

The panel's 5-0 decision upholds a 2009 decision by the Iowa Utilities Board and a subsequent trial court ruling in a case brought by MidAmerican rival NextEra Energy Resources LLC, which had argued that MidAmerican didn't fulfill its obligations to consider alternatives to the Wind VII...
