Navajo Win Victory In Coal Royalties Case

Law360, New York (September 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An appeals court panel has ruled that the U.S. government breached its trust duties to the Navajo Nation by helping to negotiate a royalty agreement that allegedly shortchanged it by $600 million.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Thursday overturned a decision by the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and remanded the long-running case back to the federal claims court to determine exactly how much the government should pay.
