L'Oreal Accuses eBay of Profiting From Fake Goods

Law360 (September 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- French cosmetics company L'Oreal has reportedly sued eBay Inc. in several European courts, alleging that it has not done enough to prevent users of its popular Internet auction service from selling fake l'Oreal products.

The lawsuits, filed in France, the U.K., Germany, Spain and Belgium, allege that eBay knowingly profits from counterfeit goods. For its part, eBay has said that it takes action against fakes when possible.
