US Airways Eyes Antitrust Approval As Key To AMR Merger

Law360, New York (June 12, 2012, 11:15 PM EDT) -- U.S. Airways Group Inc. will begin seeking approval of antitrust regulators in July or sooner to pursue its planned merger with bankrupt American Airlines Inc. parent AMR Corp., according to Tuesday news reports.

U.S. Airways, which signaled its interest in merging with the beleaguered airline in January, is seeking regulatory approval in order to boost its prospects of success at the planned deal, confidential sources told Reuters.

Representatives for U.S. Airways were not immediately available for comment late Tuesday.
