USTR Defends Trans-Pacific Pact After Leak Sparks Outcry

Law360, Los Angeles (June 14, 2012, 6:32 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Trade Representative on Thursday said there has been "unprecedented transparency" in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations after a draft of the trade agreement was leaked, sparking criticism from trade groups.

In response to allegations by politicians and advocacy groups that the TPP discussions were secretive and imbalanced, Nkenge Harmon, a spokesman for the USTR, said Thursday that the trade agreement discussions have been inclusive and more open than ever before.
