EU Drops Areva, Siemens Antitrust Probe After Deal

Law360, New York (June 18, 2012, 11:47 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has ended its antitrust investigation over alleged anti-competitive activity in a former nuclear technology joint venture between Areva SA and Siemens AG after the companies agreed to curtail their noncompete agreement, the commission said Monday.

The commission opened an investigation in May 2010 over competition concerns it had with noncompete clauses between the two companies, which were part of an agreement for Areva to take over of the companies' civil nuclear technology joint venture.
