Iranian Bank Tejarat Sues EU Over Asset Freeze

Law360, New York (June 18, 2012, 5:15 PM EDT) -- Bank Tejarat has sued the European Union over an asset freeze imposed on the state-owned Iranian bank earlier this year, saying that the EU's Legislature hadn't demonstrated that Tejarat had violated sanctions by aiding Iran's nuclear ambitions as alleged, the EU said Saturday.

Tejarat said in its action against the Council of the European Union that the EU had failed to show that the Tehran-based bank had facilitated Iran's nuclear efforts and helped other banks circumvent sanctions, according to the Official Journal of the European Union....
