Mass. AG Challenges NRC's Pilgrim Nuke License In 1st Circ.

Law360, New York (June 18, 2012, 4:33 PM EDT) -- Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley on Monday appealed the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s relicensing of the state’s sole nuclear power plant, arguing before the First Circuit that the commission didn’t fully examine environmental risks following Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

Coakley's petition claims the NRC abused its discretion in granting a new 20-year license to Entergy Nuclear Operations Inc.’s Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station, a 688-megawatt plant in Plymouth, Mass.
