Test Prep Co. Bags 'Coach' Trademark Win

Law360, New York (June 19, 2012, 3:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Monday refused to alter its ruling that educational publisher Triumph Learning LLC was allowed to trademark the term “Coach” for test study guides, a final blow to handbag maker Coach Services Inc.'s effort to halt the application.

The decision came just shy of four months after the Federal Circuit sent the case back to the USPTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, saying the administrative judges had improperly considered some evidence in ruling for Triumph.
