Block Buy Deals Can Slash DOD Costs, Agency Reports

Law360, New York (June 19, 2012, 9:50 PM EDT) -- Switching from traditional year-to-year contracts to bulk purchases or multiyear procurements can reduce Department of Defense costs by allowing contractors and the government to improve their long-term planning, the Congressional Research Service recently reported.

Multiyear procurement and block buy contracting are special contracting mechanisms used for a limited number of DOD acquisition programs, at congressional direction.
