ABA Seeks Shorter Probes, Privacy In UK Competition Regs

Law360, New York (June 20, 2012, 5:16 PM EDT) -- The American Bar Association on Wednesday gave the thumbs up to a set of proposed rule changes for one of the U.K.'s competition regulators, but urged the agency to adopt tighter investigation deadlines and more confidential public investigation notices.

Under the proposed changes to the Office of Fair Trading, first introduced in March, violation decisions in Competition Act cases would be made by panels of three officials — rather than one — who have not participated in the prior investigation, as a guard against bias....
