USPTO Faces Revolt Over Patent Rules

Law360 (September 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Facing a growing backlog of pending patent applications, the United States Patent and Trademark Office has made a highly controversial bet: That the new rules set to go into effect on Nov. 1 will help make the application process more effective and efficient. So far, that outcome is hardly the odds-on favorite among patent law practitioners.
