CFTC May Free Block Trades From Some Dodd-Frank Rules

Law360, New York (June 26, 2012, 3:44 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission released a proposed rule Monday that would establish standards for block trades in swap contracts that would be exempt from certain new requirements under the Dodd-Frank financial reform laws.

Block trades — private trades of a large group of derivatives that don't typically take place on an exchange — will get some exemptions from Dodd-Frank rules that require trading on open exchanges and immediate public reporting of the price and size of positions, because the large trades require additional steps...
