Study Ties Lower Malpractice Risk To Electronic Records

Law360, Washington (June 26, 2012, 5:15 PM EDT) -- Physicians who use electronic health record systems may have a lower risk of medical malpractice suits, according to a study published Monday, singling out another benefit to the government's push for EHR compliance.

In a letter and study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, researchers found that a group of Massachusetts doctors were named in 49 malpractice claims prior to implementing EHR systems and named in only two claims post-EHR adoption.
