EU Proposes Unbundling Energy Cos.

Law360 (September 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Despite the vocal protests of Europe's largest energy providers, the European Commission has adopted legislation that will force energy companies to separate production and supply from transmission networks.

The commission on Thursday endorsed a series of proposals that will require energy companies to unbundle their services, in an effort to “stimulate energy efficiency and guarantee that even smaller companies, for instance those that invest in renewable energy, have access to the energy market.”
