Cumberland Tries To Shut Down Sagent's Generic Acetadote

Law360, Los Angeles (June 26, 2012, 9:58 PM EDT) -- Tennessee drugmaker Cumberland Pharmaceuticals Inc. launched a patent infringement suit in Delaware federal court Tuesday challenging an effort by Sagent Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Sagent Agila LLC to win U.S. regulatory approval for a generic version of acetaminophen-overdose treatment Acetadote.

Tuesday’s lawsuit is the second time in as many months that Cumberland has filed a patent infringement suit over attempts to market generic Acetadote, marking an aggressive push by the drugmaker to protect its patent on the injectable drug.
