US, EU Proceed With WTO Rare Earth Challenge Against China

Law360, New York (June 27, 2012, 12:52 PM EDT) -- The U.S., the European Union and Japan asked the World Trade Organization on Wednesday to resolve their long-standing accusations that China imposes unfair export restrictions on rare earth elements.

In the latest salvo over China's raw material exports, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said the country was once again restricting global access to provide its manufacturers with a competitive advantage over foreign companies.
