Issa Requests That He 'Observe' Next Round Of TPP Talks

Law360, New York (June 27, 2012, 4:56 PM EDT) -- Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., an outspoken critic of the planned Trans-Pacific Partnership's intellectual property provisions, asked U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk on Tuesday to let him “observe” the upcoming round of negotiations for the long-planned trade deal.

Issa, who has frequently criticized the Obama administration for being overly secretive in its dealings with the TPP and publicly released a piece of the trade pact in March, said he hoped that watching the negotiations would “alleviate some of [his] concerns about the process.”
