Court Upholds EC Ruling On Wine Subsidies

Law360, New York (September 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two French wine producers received illegal state aid from the government in an effort to keep the struggling businesses afloat, according to a ruling by the European Court of First Instance.

Europe's second highest court ruled on Thursday that wine makers producing Rivesaltes and Grand Roussillon wines were involved in a vine conversion project initiated by French lawmakers in order to revive the wine industry in the Pyrenees-Orientales region of France.
