With Ruling In Hand, Supreme Court Nixes ACA Challenges

Law360, New York (June 29, 2012, 3:33 PM EDT) -- Having ruled the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act constitutional, the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday denied several ACA-related petitions, including one claiming the law's individual insurance mandate violated the right to religious freedom and another challenging a rule excluding research from hospitals' Medicare reimbursements.

The high court declined to review a September decision by the D.C. Circuit upholding the dismissal of a suit claiming that Congress overstepped its authority under the U.S. Constitution's commerce clause and also violated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993....
