Transonic Sues Fresenius Over Dialysis Device Patent

Law360 (November 17, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Medical device maker Transonic Systems filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in San Francisco against rival Fresenius USA and Fresenius Medical Care for alleged patent infringement, Transonic said.

The disputed patents protect Transonic's "Krivitski Method" of measuring access flow during dialysis, using blood line reversal and indicator dilution principles, the company said. Transonic claims that the on-line clearance access flow measurement that Fresenius recently integrated in its 2008K Dialysis Delivery Machine infringes the Krivitski measurement approach.
