Former Manager Appeals Ruling For H&R Block

Law360, New York (September 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former sales manager at H&R Block’s mortgage unit has appealed a federal court’s decision overturning a jury’s finding that he was fired in retaliation for reporting alleged sexual and racial harassment toward others.

The appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit was prompted immediately after the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida ruled Friday that the verdict could not be upheld because the former manager’s report of the alleged conduct was not statutorily protected activity.
