House Committee Passes Union-Friendly RESPECT Act

Law360, New York (September 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Legislation that would give millions of exempt supervisors a chance to join the rank and file of America's organized workers jumped a preliminary hurdle with its passage Wednesday by a U.S. House subcommittee.

The bill -- known as the Re-Empowerment of Skilled and Professional Employees and Construction and Tradeworkers, or RESPECT, Act -- passed the House Education and Labor Committee by a vote of 26 to 20.
