AIG Suit Seeks $30M From US For Overpaid 1991 Taxes

Law360, New York (July 6, 2012, 4:22 PM EDT) -- American International Group Inc. on Thursday sued the federal government, which owns a majority stake of the company, seeking to recover more than $30.2 million in interest stemming from tax overpayments it made in 1991.

In a suit filed Thursday in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, AIG claims that after matching overpayments and underpayments made to the government, it now is owed about $30.2 million in interest based on overpayments made more than 20 years ago minus underpayments the company made for the tax years...
