Proposed CMS Rule Makes $20M Cut To Home Health Medicare

Law360, New York (July 9, 2012, 1:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed rules on Friday that would cut Medicare payments to home health care centers by $20 million and boost payment rates to hospital outpatient departments and ambulatory surgical centers.

Medicare payments to home health agencies would be reduced by 0.1 percent for the 2013 calendar year, which reflect reductions mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — which was recently upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court — as well as Medicare coding changes.
