WTO Deal Is Constitutional, Russian High Court Rules

Law360, New York (July 9, 2012, 6:49 PM EDT) -- Russia's highest court said Monday that last year's deal to bring the $1.9 trillion economy into the World Trade Organization did not conflict with the country's constitution, clearing the way for Russia's formal accession to the trade group next month.

The Constitutional Court ruled against a group of lawmakers who had argued that the ratification process and portions of Russia's obligations under the accession deal in December were unconstitutional.
