India Considering Duties On Chinese Steel, WTO Hears

Law360, New York (July 9, 2012, 5:05 PM EDT) -- India told the World Trade Organization on Friday that it might impose protective trade measures in response to a sudden spike in Chinese imports of stainless steel, which India said has hurt its domestic steelmakers.

The Indian Directorate General of Safeguards notified the world body that it was investigating the surge in imports of so-called 300 series hot-rolled flat products, which the directorate said had increased 674 percent since 2009.
