USTR Says Mexico Will Join Pacific Trade Pact Talks

Law360, New York (July 9, 2012, 5:24 PM EDT) -- Mexico will be included in future talks over the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative told Congress on Monday, saying the U.S. neighbor’s participation would increase the economic impact of the trade agreement.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said in a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Senate leader Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, that the Obama administration wanted to officially notify Congress that it planned to include Mexico in TPP talks.
