Device Makers, Doctors Spar Over X-Ray Safety For Kids

Law360, New York (July 16, 2012, 9:02 PM EDT) -- Members of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration panel battled Monday over whether X-ray imaging and similar devices should be tested more before they are used on children, with industry representatives saying cost and other factors limit such an approach.

The FDA told manufacturers in draft guidance in May to design radiation-emitting equipment with pediatric patients in mind or add warning labels if their products are not suitable for children.
