Ohio Gov. Beefs Up Regs On Fracking Wells

Law360, Washington (July 11, 2012, 4:31 PM EDT) -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed an order Tuesday that places immediate regulations and requirements on deep-injection wells used for fracking, which could conceivably make it more difficult to gain well permits in the state.

Under the executive order, Rick Simmers, chief of the state's Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management, will have the authority to require seismic testing before well drilling, reject sites that fail the new tests and set maximum injection pressure standards for approved wells.
