Rambus Sues Samsung Again As Patent Battle Heats Up

Law360, New York (June 17, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an escalation of the patent dispute between chip designer Rambus, Inc. and Korean electronics maker Samsung Electronics Co., Rambus has added Samsung as a defendant in its federal antitrust suit against DRAM makers Hynix and Micron.

The case alleges a continuing conspiracy beginning in the mid-to-late 1990s in which Hynix, Micron -- and now Samsung -- conspired illegally, among other things, to share cost and pricing data and eliminate Rambus’ RDRAM memory design from the market.
