EU Raids Plastic Sewer Pipe Cos. Over Cartel Concerns

Law360, New York (July 11, 2012, 3:23 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog has raided several plastic sewer pipe companies over suspicions of cartel activity, the regulator announced Wednesday.

The European Commission carried out unannounced inspections with local authorities from several unnamed EU countries June 26, according to the statement.

The raids were made out of concern that the companies — manufacturers of plastic pipes and pipe fittings for sewer systems — had violated EU antitrust laws by reaching collusive agreements, the regulator said.
