Minn. AG Calls Accretive's Debt Collection 'Reprehensible'

Law360, New York (July 13, 2012, 5:17 PM EDT) -- Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson urged a federal judge on Thursday not to toss a consumer protection lawsuit accusing medical billing firm Accretive Health Inc. of squeezing money from sick patients, saying the company committed egregious misdeeds that must be litigated.

The 44-page filing includes numerous affidavits from patients who say nightmarish illnesses were made even worse by callous efforts at debt collection by Accretive and hospital workers it trained.
