GOP Spars With DOE, EPA Officials Over Renewable Fuels

Law360, New York (July 17, 2012, 8:54 PM EDT) -- Obama administration officials told a House panel Tuesday that continued efforts to promote renewable fuels in vehicles would help reduce pollution and increase energy independence, but received push-back from Republican lawmakers skeptical of costs and technical challenges.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency said the government is playing an important role in the development of alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles through actions like the renewable fuel standard program and greenhouse gas emission standards.
