USPTO Strikes Down More Patent Claims In BlackBerry Case

Law360, New York (June 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a victory for Canadian BlackBerry maker Research in Motion, Ltd., the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has truck down three patent claims held by NTP Inc., the small company that has sued RIM for patent infringement.

The USPTO has already rejected two other patent claims held by NTP, which was formed to protect the patents of the late inventor Thomas Campana.

The USPTO is expected to finish a re-examination of three other NTP patents by year-end. A decision could come at any time.
