Shell Sues Kinder Morgan Over Pipeline Burst

Law360, New York (September 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Shell Canada Ltd. has taken legal action against Kinder Morgan Canada, hoping to hold its energy rival liable for a pipeline rupture that put its bulk distribution terminal out of business for 11 days.

The Canadian unit of Royal Dutch Shell PLC filed a notice of its intent to reclaim its losses in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on Sept. 20, taking action before the two-month statute of limitations ran out.

The notice also targets the City of Burnaby, where the Kinder Morgan pipeline ruptured...
