Planned Parenthood Sues Ariz. Over Medicaid Abortion Law

Law360, New York (July 17, 2012, 7:23 PM EDT) -- Planned Parenthood on Monday went to court once again to beat back attempts by abortion rights foes to cut off its funding under Medicaid, telling a federal judge that Arizona’s new limits on reproductive health coverage are unconstitutional.

According to the nonprofit group’s lawsuit, an Arizona statute approved in May illegally imposes Medicaid eligibility restrictions on providers beyond those allowed under federal law and violates due-process and equal-protection guarantees by punishing health care providers for activities pursued outside of Medicaid.
