Microsoft Expands IP Indemnification Program

Law360, New York (June 23, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has stepped up its indemnification program to help shield its partner companies from exposure to legal costs and damage claims related to patent or other intellectual property disputes.

The software maker said Thursday its partners would receive enhanced indemnification coverage, including protection for the four forms of disputes commonly associated with software: patent, copyright, trade secret and trademark.

The coverage extends to current and future versions of the company’s software, such as the Windows Server System, Microsoft Office System, and Windows client software....
