Feds Probe Sticky Throttles On Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute

Law360, New York (July 17, 2012, 11:10 PM EDT) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday said it is investigating older-model Ford Motor Co. Escapes and Mazda Motor Corp. Tributes after receiving complaints about sticky throttles that allegedly have resulted in 13 accidents, including one fatal crash.

The NHTSA said it is investigating the cruise-control cables and throttles of model year 2001-2004 Escapes and Tributes after receiving 99 reports alleging incidents of throttles failing to return to idle when the accelerator pedal was released.
