Brazilian Antitrust Official Vows Quick Merger Reviews

Law360, New York (July 17, 2012, 11:21 PM EDT) -- A top Brazilian antitrust official vowed Tuesday that the agency will not come close to using its full 330-day merger review period for most cases even as the regulator remains understaffed more than a month after the country's new antitrust law took effect.

Simple cases will be reviewed by Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, in less than 30 days, Superintendent Carlos Ragazzo said at a New York Bar Association Panel.
