EU Regulator Issues New Safety Plan For Food Cos.

Law360, New York (July 18, 2012, 5:03 PM EDT) -- The European Food Safety Authority released final guidance Wednesday for the testing that companies should complete in order to show a food additive is safe, ahead of reviews for preservatives and other popular additives scheduled for the next three years.

The EFSA reviews the safety of food additives before the European Commission decides whether they can be sold on the market. The new guidance is designed for companies applying for approval of a new food additive or reapproval of an existing food additive.
