GOP Members Question Medicaid Expansion's Funding

Law360, New York (July 18, 2012, 7:47 PM EDT) -- Two top Republican lawmakers wrote to Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius Wednesday questioning whether the federal government would be able to fund the health law's Medicaid expansion as promised, echoing similar concerns by Republican governors.

The lawmakers, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton of Michigan and Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Orrin Hatch of Utah, expressed doubt that federal coffers could keep up the 100 percent funding of the Medicaid expansion over the first three years and 90 percent thereafter....
