ITC Says That Despite Claims, NPE Suits Not On Rise

Law360, New York (July 19, 2012, 8:43 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Wednesday that patent suits by nonpracticing entities account for only a small percentage of its workload, disputing claims that such suits have increased dramatically and need to be reined in by Congress.

The same day that a congressional panel heard calls from business leaders to bar nonpracticing entities from filing Section 337 patent cases at the ITC, the commission released a document called "Facts and Trends Regarding USITC Section 337 Investigation."
