FDA Orders Halt To Unapproved Cough-Suppressants

Law360, New York (September 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday ordered that all prescription drugs that contain hydrocodone and have not received FDA approval be removed from the market.

Hydrocodone, a powerful narcotic commonly found in cough-suppressants, is the latest in a list of substances the FDA is targeting as part of its program of selected enforcement actions against unapproved prescription drugs containing potentially dangerous ingredients.
