Philips Wins $100M In Damages In Patent Disputes

Law360, New York (October 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.S. Philips Corp. has won two major victories recently and more than $100 million in damages in patent disputes involving DVD technology, attorneys for Philips said Monday.

The two suits, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, centered on two patents which are part of a larger group of patents Philips has licensed to other companies involving the production, importation and sale of DVD players. In both cases, there was a finding of willful infringement of the two Philips' patents....
